At least 4,300 people have lost their lives, more than 16,000 others severely injured in Turkiye and Syria after a devastating earthquake of 7.8 magnitude struck at 4:17 a.m. Monday while people were sleeping.We are far from having a complete picture of the damage as thousands are still under the rubble.

Millions of people are displaced under the open sky in freezing cold and the main needs right now are emergency shelters, hot meals and basic relief. There have been more than 60 aftershocks. People have left homes. They are fearful of staying inside, or perhaps fearful of another major earthquake.

Our Response
Alkhidmat Foundation in collaboration with Turkish partner organizations is responding on the ground in quake-hit areas of Turkiye and Syria by distributing hot meals, blankets, mattresses and shelter tents to the victims.

Current Situation

Devastation caused by floods due to the current monsoon in Pakistan is still going on. Sindh, Balochistan and South Punjab have been severely affected, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan have also suffered massive losses. According to the data from the National Disaster Management Authority(NDMA), 33 million population of 81 districts have been affected.

Our Response

The rescue and relief activities are ongoing in the flood-affected areas of Sindh, Balochistan and South Punjab on a large scale. Flood water is still standing in the affected areas as far the sight can reach. We have set up temporary tent villages in the affected areas. Where medical facilities are being provided with continuous supply of two meals a day and clean water. While the work of delivering dry ration to the villages in flood water is also going on.

The teams of doctors and medical volunteers are engaged in the struggle to keep the victims safe from the epidemics that spread after the floods. Mobile medical units have reached the severely affected areas. Supply of clean water is being ensured in the affected areas with the help of mobile water units. Distribution of hygiene kits to affected families is being ensured.
